Lately God’s been teaching me the gift of His PATHS.
David’s says, “He renews my strength. He guides me along right PATHS, bringing honor to his name.” – Psalms 23:3 (NLT)
In Isaiah God says, “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a PATHway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
God’s PATHS are His Standards.
Proverbs 22:6 (NLT)
Direct your children onto the right PATH, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
God has been giving me standards (PATHS) for Spirit Media and my companies to follow regardless of what’s in the bank:
- Know and Live out God’s Word
- Pray with Jesus’ authority for His Kingdom to come.
- Praise Him at all times.
- Boast only on the Lord.
- Pursue every sales lead He brings us.
- Identify, address, & eliminate waste.
These are standards God wants me/us to uphold. They are PATHS God wants us to follow.
In doing so God is saying: Take heed the warning. Don’t allow surplus to spoil you. The Bible is full of unfortunate progression:
- People are desperate for God,
- He blesses them,
- They stop depending on the Lord,
- They rebel against the Lord
- They worship other things
- Their lives fall apart
- They are desperate for God,
- He blesses them,
- They stop depending on the Lord,
This progression occurs again and again. Some times in one generation. Sometimes across multiple generations.
Watch closely in the Bible and you’ll also notice…
Purity Proceeds Prosperity
God is relentless in attempting to prepare His people not to allow surplus to spoil them.
God’s kingdom is about multiplication, investment, and stewardship. We see this in Matthew 25.
Jesus is worthy of our faithfulness. Our faithfulness should be a reflection of His faithfulness. The Bible also makes it clear that God rewards faithfulness.
PATHS Protect Us
Ever left the path and toured the wilderness? You can get scratched up real quick. You can spot snakes on a path but not be able to see them in the wilderness.
Here’s God’s promise:
Psalms 32:8 (NLT)
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
Hold onto God’s promises!
PATHS Guide Us
Follow a PATH and it will eventually take you somewhere otherwise a PATH wouldn’t be there. Navigating your way through the wilderness is not easy instead you’re likely to end up lost.
PATHS Provide for Us
God’s guidance is His provision. Sometimes we get frustrated because we need something but it seems the only thing God wants to give us is His guidance. I’ve often said:
God Guides God Provides
Now I also say: God’s guidance is God’s provision.
Sometimes we wonder, if we do what God is guiding us to do, will he provide? The answer is God is already providing by giving us His guidance.
Let us take courage and comfort in this! God can be trusted. Keep the faith. Jesus is worthy!
What PATHS or standards is God giving you? Don’t ignore these. Instead pay close attention. Take these serious. Write them down. Understand them. Commit before God and others to uphold God’s standards in your life and business. God will bless you! You’ll experience protection, guidance, provision, prosperity, faithfulness.
Take a look at what Paul told the Ephesians was God’s mission for your life:
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NLT)
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
Did you catch that? We are to measure up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
Jesus is our PATH and standard.
Record and Repeat
Pass these PATHS or standards down to others. Don’t just announce them but repeat them often. Don’t just share the what but also the why. Make sure your team and future generations share the convictions God has given you.
This will give your business life today and legacy tomorrow. Good PATHS stay maintained. Don’t let them grow over. Keep them clear. This is where vision is maintained. Here lies the future of your business. Make sure future generations stay on God’s PATHS.
I end with this word of encouragement:
Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
