Business success rises or falls on relationships and results.
Matthew 22:36-40 (NLT)
Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses? Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Jesus is setting the value for relationships.
1 John 4:9-11 (NLT)
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
God is establishing relationships to be a top priority.
#1 our relationships with God.
#2 our relationship with others.
We see God value relationships.
We see God invest in relationships.
God became human to relate to us.
John 1:14 (NLT)
”So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.“
Philippians 2:6-8 (NLT)
”Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.“
Hebrews 2:14 (NLT)
”Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.“
Likewise we are to:
Value relationships and invest in relationships.
One of the greatest things anyone in any business can do is to relate to their clients. At Spirit Media we work hard to know our authors and the businesses we serve. We:
Study them.
Channel them.
Speak on their behalf.
Know their audience.
Speak like their audience to their audience.
How are you valuing and investing in relationships? Jesus gave us the Golden Rule…
Matthew 7:12 (NLT)
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
We are to put ourselves into other people’s shoes. We are to treat them the way we would want to be treated.
Dale Carnegie said the most beloved word in the world to each person is the sound of their own name. We took deliberate and intentional efforts to memorize the name of every person he met.
I’d take that a step further and state: the most beloved action in any relationship is to be heard.
Look at what God did for us:
John 1:14 (NLT)
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Isaiah 9:6 (NLT)
For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor,[a] Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
God took on ears for us! He listens. He hears our sounds, our cries, our prayers.
Romans 10:13 (NLT)
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
God is listening for our voice.
Psalms 107:2 (NLT)
Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.
Luke 9:18-20 (NLT)
One day Jesus left the crowds to pray alone. Only his disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do people say I am?” “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other ancient prophets risen from the dead.” Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah sent from God!”
God loves to hear the name Jesus.
God listens.
God loves to be acknowledged.
I encourage you to become a client in your own company. Listen to your clients. Hear their pain. Identify with their problems. Talk with them, not just to them. Listen.
I’m in the process of training our team at Spirit Media: the clients, not us, say when things are healthy.
I encourage you to do the same!
I’m listening to you… got some feedback from this blog? I’d love to hear from you!
Please join me 10am every Tuesday for The Kevin White Show. Let me know if there is any way I can serve you. I offer you my shoulders to stand on. I pray every day for God to strengthen, encourage, and comfort you. God bless you!
