What is God Saying About Vaccines?

What is God Saying About Vaccines by Kevin White

Unfortunately, the Christian church is divided today.

Studies show that many Christians are reluctant to get the vaccine for Covid-19. I sympathize with anyone who is unable to take the vaccine for health reasons. Sadly many healthy people are just skeptical. I don’t blame them, but I do encourage everyone to turn the decision over to God.

As Founder and Executive Director of Global Hope India we have launched a massive Covid-19 Relief campaign to help as many people in India as possible to have access to vaccines.

In India it cost $20 per person to be vaccinated. For over 1 billion of India’s 1.4 billion people that’s $20 they can’t afford.

One huge and primary difference between the USA today and India is the access to vaccines.

Not too long ago the USA was horribly sick just like India is today. Now the USA is much healthier. Positive cases are dramatically lower. So are deaths due to Covid. Restrictions are being lifted. Masks are coming down. The difference comes from vaccines! Vaccines have proven to save lives.

Today, people in India are literally dying from the lack of the vaccines healthy Americans are reluctant to take.

If only those reluctant to take vaccines could go live the next year in India. They would return so thankful for so many things including vaccines.

One ministry leader in India told me they have received messages from three different Christians in USA who sent funds for Covid-19 Relief insisting their funds not be used for vaccines.

This is like saying, “your house is burning down. Let me help you. Use my money to buy blankets for those sitting outside but don’t dare use it to buy water to put out the fire!”

This is exactly why Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert wrote their book, When Helping Hurts.

It is unfortunate for any Christian to tell another Christian to do anything other than to hear and obey the voice of God. I’m not telling you to go take the vaccine. I’m encouraging you to ask God to speak to you regarding the vaccine.

I’m yet to have anyone share how they went into God’s presence and came out with chapter and verse from God not to take the vaccine. I hear fear not faith. That’s not how God speaks to his people.

It seems many Christians are simply repeating what they heard from others instead of what they heard in the presence of God. Let’s face it, America has grown to be very cynical – including many Christians.

Allow me to point out some things:

Cynical leaders produce cynical followers. God is not cynical so who are cynical people following?

Cynical leaders have told people that some people, countries, and political parties are bad and should not be trusted. Today millions of Christians are cynical. This is a horrible witness of Jesus. God is not cynical.

Didn’t Adolph Hitler and Saddam Hussein get into trouble for considering one group of people bad and another group of people good?

The only way to ever trust people, countries, and political parties is by trusting God. Because I trust God I can trust my government. God says people are good, but sins are bad. Cynical people combine sin and people together. That’s not God’s way.

When it comes to the vaccine, some Christians are saying it’s the mark of the beast, it’s a micro chip for government control, it will wipe out the human race 5 years from now, and simply that they are not so sure about the vaccine.

All this cynicism, refusal to trust, suspicion, and defiance is not the character of Jesus so who are these Christians following? Being cynical and suspicious of people is simply a repeating message copied from cynical leaders. It is not biblical. It does not bear the nature and spirit of God.

Having lived the last 20 years with one foot in the USA and one foot in India I have seen how corruption produces corruption and prosperity produces prosperity. God clearly calls us to choose life, blessing, and prosperity (Deuteronomy 30).

Jesus says give to Caesar what is Caesar’s (Mark 12:17). This is more than paying taxes. This is also respect and honor. Paul told Timothy to pray for kings and those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2). The Spirit of God is NOT going to say pray for your government and then turn around and tell you to disrespect them, criticize them, mock them, and rebel against them.

Having seen first hand how other governments struggle and fail to protect and provide for the people of their country I am incredibly thankful and proud to be an American. We are absolutely blessed to have a government that will immediately engage the scientist and manufacturers in the USA to produce, test, and distribute at least 3 vaccines proven to prevent death from Covid-19. This is nothing short of a miraculous intervention and provision of Almighty God.

I’m a Christian and I thank the USA and praise Jesus Christ for the opportunity to have this vaccine.

The rampant confusion plaguing the church today is a result of people not passionately pursing the presence of God. We are not determined to hear and obey the voice of God. Instead we are repeating what man is saying instead of what God is saying.

The greatest question anyone will ever ask you is, “what is God saying?”

God is not a God of confusion. If all 7 Billion people alive today would passionate pursue the presence of God in order to hear and obey his voice there would be one message not 7 billion different messages!

God is NOT going to tell one Christian to go get the vaccine and then tell another person to not go get the vaccine. God is not going to tell one Christian to pray for those without access to know about Jesus but then go tell another Christian you don’t have to be concerned about the Great Commission.

I’m not asking if you are Christians or American. I am asking do you passionately pursue the presence of God in order to hear and obey his voice? Is God free to say and do whatever he wants to in your life?

Have you sincerely asked the Holy Spirit to speak and guide you regarding getting the vaccine for Covid-19? If not, then you should today!

In John 17 Jesus prayed for our protection, sanctification, and unity. The Trinity demonstrates how much God cares about unity.

The Church is failing in its response to Covid-19. We should be leading the charge for life, blessing and prosperity. Instead we are divided, reluctant, cynical, suspicious, untrusting, and defiant. This is the direct opposite to the fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5.

Instead of leading with the hope of the world many Christians will be among the very last to get the vaccine. Your government has clearly said and proven this will save your life from Covid-19. Your God has clearly said, “now choose life” (Deuteronomy 30). What are you waiting on?

I encourage you to find one single person who refused to take the stimulus check along with the vaccine. Why accept the stimulus check but then refuse the vaccine? Isn’t that hypocritical?

I encourage you to trust God and therefore trust your government. Love people. Hate sin. Don’t get the two twisted up.

I encourage you to discern the spirits. Stop listening to any cynical, judgmental, untrusting, suspicious, defiant, and rebellious spirit! Instead insist upon following a God focused, God trusting, God reliant, humble, gentle, and life-giving Spirit.

The way to beware of wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing is to pay attention to what’s in front of you. Sense the spirit in front of you. Is it peaceful or conflicting? Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Demand peace otherwise refuse to listen! Refuse to be led astray. Passionately pursue the presence of God. Hear and obey the voice of God in accordance to God’s Word. You’ll never go wrong!

What is God saying to you?

You have been bought with a price. You are not your own. Your body belongs as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Shouldn’t you be asking God what he wants you to do with your body? Yes! You should.

What is the Spirit of God saying to you? Hear and obey God’s voice.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. –2 Chronicles 7:15
